Mid-century Danish Luthje Wood Scandi teak cheese board + glazed ceramic tile

A lovely mid century cheese board with original cheese knife.

By Luthje Wood, Denmark – Luthje ceased in the 1970s so all Luthje pieces are mid century era.

A reddy hardwood, most likely teak, with a square vintage retro tile inset.

The tile looks like those by Alan Wallwork… quite likely by him.

The tile is retro spotty bleeding colours of browns and gold tones.

I believe the cheese knife is original – serrated to one side, sharp to other, and spikes to pick up a chunk.

There’s an inset magnet to hold the knife in place.

There’s a suede tied cord loop to hang it all up.

Stamped to the back.

39 x 19cm, tile is 15 x15cm.

Very good.

The wood has been re-oiled recently with food safe Danish oil.

Some small marks to the wood.

Tile is good with no knife marks.

Midwinter Stonehenge Moon large side plate 8", blue stripe Creation 70s retro

Midwinter Pottery 8″ wide dessert/snack/salad plate, circa 1970s to early 1980s vintage.

It’s the Midwinter Stonehenge shape (base of cream with random iron oxide brown speckles/trim which is ‘Creation’) with the glossy Moon design – deep blue and lighter blue circles. The design was by Eve Midwinter and it was launched in 1973 and produced until the mid 1980s. Very retro and a design classic in one of the harder to find colour-ways.

A larger side plate 20.4cm wide. Simple round shape with rim.

Unusual sizing.

Very good condition.

No noticeable marks or chips or crazing.

An imperfection to the blue pattern – from at the time and quite typical.

Due to the nature of the random glazes these are all slightly different and unique with different speckles and stripes.

A super art jug by Katherine Barney from Elsing, Norfolk.

A white pottery/ceramic which has been hand painted and drawn with two delightful chickens, then glazed.

Lovely and colourful with red, green and white with black outlines and blue background.

Signed by the artist.

Contemporary – from within the last 10 years.

All her pieces are unique.

9cm tall.

4.5cm rim, 6.5cm wide belly.

A small milk or cream jug.

Very good.

Old Hall stainless steel & rosewood coffee/hot water pot, 1970s modernist retro

A super Old Hall coffee/hot water pot.

Circa early 1970s and hard to find and ID.

It looks like it should be a Robert Welch piece, but is not stamped as such.

Stainless steel with rosewood trim.

Coffee pot is 1 3/4 pint.

Coffee pot – 15.5cm tall, 18.5cm with lid and lid lift x 10cm diameter.

It’s a straight sided cylinder shape, simple and modernist.

Very good condition with a few marks to the steel.

I’ll clean the steel up a bit more.

Wood is very good.

Useable and displays well.

Midwinter Pottery 9″ wide serving bowl, circa 1970s to early 1980s vintage.

Vintage Dartington Crystal glass Daisy cheese platter FT215 Frank Thrower, boxed

A vintage Dartington crystal Daisy Cheese Platter designed by Frank Thrower.

A sizeable 10″ wide and round shaped, it’s suited for cakes, cheeses, nibbles, etc.

Design no FT215, the design dates from 1977 and is part of the Daisy Collection which included a smaller 7″ butter plate too.

This is circa 1980s-1990s.

Quality 24% lead crystal content, moulded and mouth blown.

Platter is great for the age with no chips or marks.

Glass has a flat and smooth upper and textured beneath with a daisy flower indented.

Original card envelope box is in good condition.

A nice boxed example, 26cm diameter.

Heavy – over 1.7kg.

A Midwinter Pottery cup and saucer, circa 1970s to early 1980s vintage…

It’s the Midwinter Stonehenge shape (base of cream with random iron oxide brown speckles/trim which is ‘Creation’) with the glossy Moon design – deep blue and lighter blue stripes. The design was by Eve Midwinter and it was launched in 1973 and produced until the mid 80s. Very retro and a design classic in one of the harder to find colour-ways.

Ceramic cup is a good sized 6.5cm tall x 8.7cm wide at the rim. Simple cylinder shape. Base stamp and printed stamp too.

Good – it has a historic inner baseline chip to the cup, shown.

No cutlery marks internally. Good print, no crazing.

It holds about 250ml or 1 old-school ‘cup’.

Due to the nature of the random glazes each piece is slightly different and unique with different speckles and stripes.

Saucer is 15.5cm wide and is plain Creation. Saucer is good with no chips.

A lovely quality 18/8 stainless steel vintage egg cup from Polaris in Norway.

Comes with sticker suggesting very little use.

Polished steel with integrated tray/base for spoon or drips.

Stamped to base.

Scandi 1970s modernist style.

3.8cm tall x 8.8cm wide.

Probably unused but has slight natural patina from age.

Hewett Ongar vintage pottery ceramic hand painted cute Miss Mouse egg cup, retro

A cute ‘Miss Mouse’ vintage ceramic egg cup by Hewett of Ongar.

I can’t find anything about Hewett – but the egg cup is very similar to those from Portugal.

Hand painted mouse shaped with tail as a handle and open cup to the top.

9cm tall x 4.3cm inner opening.

Circa 1960s vintage.

Some manufacturing marks to the rim but generally good with no chips.
