Description

A single stem bud vase, designed by Lino Sabattini (1925-2016) for Christofle, France in the 1950s.
It’s a classic piece of mid century design by the iconic Italian designer.

It is a Modernist simplified silver plated form, straight and tapering in then out with the distinctive scooping pointy head.
Reflective silver plated finish (tricky to photograph).
Stamped to the base with “Christofle, France” then an OC logo (for Orfevrerie Christofle) and “Coll Gallia” (Gallia Collection).
I’m not sure when this particular vase dates from, but I believe it to be pre 1964, while he was working at Christofle.
The design dates from about 1950.

It’s the smaller 21cm version of the design. 4cm wide at the base.

Used condition with surface scratching/marks and signs of age, see photos.
The silver has a lot of tarnishing and loss of plate so is speckled and discoloured.
A couple of tiny dinks.
Would benefit from a re-plate.

Offers accepted. I also have the large version in similar condition.
