Description
A mid century San Marino (Italy) tourist ware.
It’s a fancy ornamental handled vase with a thick fat lava glaze in bubbles and tones of matt black and glossy white.
White inner.
To the front there is a central image – a sgraffito hand drawn San Marino scene.
The reverse image is on a glossy red background with abstract flowers.
It’s typical of San Marino ware and impossible to contribute to any one pottery or artist.
Circa 1950s to 1970s, mid century kitsch.
21cm tall.
Good vintage condition with no visible chips on display.
On very close inspection the handles have fine hairline cracks, as does the narrowest part of the neck.
Due to the glaze it’s very very hard to see.
Internally the inner neck has a crack and crazing.
It may have been repaired or stressed.
