A lovely and very hard to find art glass carafe, designed by Tapio Wirkkala.
Designed for Finlandia Vodka, it’s branded across the centre with those lightly 3D letters (hard to see).
Produced by iittala and made in Finland.
This is a tall cylinder vase/bottle with little spout for pouring – jug or pitcher barware style.
The textures are very close to those on Arnica, Paadar and Aslak design barware.
This isn’t a mass produced Finlandia bottle for vokda, this is a jug what would have been made in the same way as an iittala vase or decanter. Nicely made quality art glass, probably with a crystal content.
No chips.
A patch of dirt (old sticker?) which should come off with a good soak, shown.
An internal water stain to one side going through the word Finlandia – it has obviously sat horizontally in water and stained in an oval shape to one side (not possible to show in photos).
27.5cm tall x 9cm widest, 6cm diameter round softened rim.
A large capacity 1.1 litre water or mixer or vodka jug.
