Description

Stylish Modernist satin stainless steel sugar tongs designed by Robert Welch, for Old Hall (Sheffield, England).

Part of the iconic Alveston range from 1964, these were in production from 1964 to 1984(ish).
The Alveston range won a Design Centre Award in 1965, and is now much sought after.
These are the smaller tongs in the range – suitable for sugar cubes/lumps, olives, etc.
They are “42841 Sugar tongs, 4 1/2″ long, satin”.
They were also then used for sugar for Campden and Oriana ranges.

High quality designer item in a satin/slightly brushed 18/8 stainless steel.
Made in England by Old Hall, it is stamped inside with ‘Designed by R. Welch. Old Hall England. 18/8 stainless steel’.
It’s slimline and petite with a gently swooping/sweeping design.
Very good used condition.
Just 11.5 x 2.5 x 1.8cm.
