A fabulous mid-century style hand-carved dark wood deer, or antelope or gazelle.
Mid century inspired, it’s probably African origin.
Circa 1970s-1980s vintage – modernist and retro 1970s in style.
Skilfully handmade from a dark hardwood (ebony or similar) – a distinctive dark streaky wood with defined grain, like a dark rosewood. It’s carved on a plinth, all one piece.
He’s a medium sized 11 inches or 28cm tall x 8cm x 4.5cm deepest (sits on a narrow shelf).
Very good condition with no chips, please check pics.
Some lighter patches to the wood – I don’t know if it is a black wood or a blackened wood.
A natural lightly-oiled finish – smooth and tactile with a sheen.
Perfect for a mid-century inspired interior.
Great for a collector of carved retro animals – photos don’t do him justice!
