Description

A vintage studio pottery art vase, by Carn Pottery, Penzance, Cornwall from the 1970s or so…

Carn Pottery was John Beusmans; he used muted matt blue, brown and green washes over a pale neutral-toned clays and is best known for his geometric Cubist or angular pieces.
John was inspired by the Cornish sea and landscapes with primitive Celtic/Runic Studio Pottery designs.

This vase is a smaller vase with imprinted central panel.
The outers of this vase were probably wheel thrown, then different contrasting decors were hand applied.
We have geometric triangles with scribbles.
It has a blue wash with earthy toned wash top and bottom.
A pale fine cream clay sculpture with a glossy glazed inner.
It has a clear Carn Pottery stamp to the base.
A smaller 10cm tall x 7cm wide.
Very good condition with no chips or nibbles.
