A lovely large shallow bowl by Carstens Tönnieshof, West Germany.
Circa 1960s to 1970s fat lava mid century era.
It’s in the fabulous Ankara decor and is in the harder to find black and white colour way (with stunning contrasting smooth teal coloured base).
Model number 1002/1 – a large ornamental shallow dish or platter.
Matt grey/black with glossy white geometric over-glaze.

The white bubbled pattern has been formed with a wax-type resist stencil/template.
The Ankara design was by Scholtis.
5.5cm tall x 29.5cm wide – a perfect centrepiece statement for a mid-century dining room.

It’s in very good vintage condition with no cracks.
It has a small flake of missing glaze to the lower rim. A scratch underneath.
A browner muddier patch to the glaze near the centre.
