Description

A super cute bear money box by Cinque Ports Pottery at the Monastery, Rye, Sussex.

Circa 1960s-1970s vintage.
Very likely an early David Sharp piece, as he founded the pottery with George Gray in 1956.

The bear is like a polar or panda bear with black features and hand painted blue stylised flowers with green leaves.
The moulded clay/ceramic has two holes to the base (as have others) and an old stamp for the pottery.
He has a coin slot to his head and an old plastic stopper underneath.

16cm long x 8cm wide x 11cm tall.
He’s in good condition but has fine crazing, more noticeable around the slot.
Displayable and functional, and adorable!
