Description
A hard to find ‘Blomkulla’ vase designed by Kjell Blomberg for Gullaskruf Glass, Sweden.
The design dates from the early 1960s, so of that mid century era.
A large bulbous form with small ‘beak’ rim making it an ornamental pitcher.
Very similar to the bird vase for iittala by Timo Sarpaneva, probably inspired by it.
My old glass book (last picture) states it’s probably by Arthur Percy but all the references online since refer to it as by Kjell Blomberg.
This is a 16.5cm tall version of the design with distinctive rounded form and inverted base.
Mouth blown, handmade and thin fragile glass.
No chips.
Signs of age with surface marks.
And I can’t get a brush inside to fully clean it out.
16.5 x 13cm widest.
