Description
A fabulous mid-century style hand-carved ironwood or rosewood ‘roadrunner’ bird.
These modernist bird figures originate from the South West America, Arizona/Mexico region.
Of some vintage. Unsigned.
Skilfully handmade from a dark distinctive streaky wood with defined grain (red and black).
It’s mounted on a deliberately unfinished plinth.
Circa 1960s-1990s vintage – modernist and minimalist in style.
He’s a long 28.5cm tall x 10cm x 5cm deepest.
Very good condition, please check pics.
Rougher to the bottom of the base, deliberate.
The hardwood has a dark reddy black tone, with a natural lightly-oiled finish – smooth and tactile with a sheen.
Perfect for a mid-century inspired interior.
Great for a collector of teak or rosewood retro animals – photos don’t do him justice!
