Description
A lovely neutral-toned vintage vase by Broadstairs Pottery, Kent.
Circa 1970s or so – the pottery ran from 1968 to 1983.
Broadstairs Pottery was David James White and Mary Dening I believe, but some pots are also by Dianne Sanders.
It is stamped to the base with the Broadstairs Pottery logo stamp, and also the initials DV (I have no idea who this artist is).
Warm biscuit coloured unglazed lower section with three rows of incised shapes in a brutalist style, top half is taupe and tan brown striped glazes.
Wheel thrown with deliberate stripes.
Wider base, slightly tapers in at the neck, then back out at the rim.
Typical of the 70s Studio Pottery era, and much like works from Tremain and Louis Hudson.
A good sized 20.2cm tall x 10.5m widest x 9cm rim.
Very good condition with no chips.
Any glaze imperfections are from at the time of manufacture.
