Description

A small round vintage pin or coin or jewellery ornamental dish, by Rye Pottery, England.

The stamp dates it from 1957-1969 mid century.

Rye Pottery was John Cole and Walter Cole. Walter (Wally) was responsible for creating the ceramics and running the pottery while John made the designs and created the patterns and decorations. As their work became increasingly popular, the Coles began to employ and train other staff – throwers David Sharp, Dennis Townsend, Raymond Everett, David Smeed and Jim Elliott, who were later joined by Pam Goddard and June Woolley.

Wheel thrown and glazed white, the dish has a pinky central spiral which was painted on while rotating, then hand drawn freeform fine blue scribbles have been drawn on by the artist. White clay base.

A small dish, best for display and for a collector rather than use.
In very good condition with no real signs of age.
May have handmade quirks like glazing bubbles, bumps etc – see photos.
No chips or crazing.

10cm wide.

A more unusual 1960s Rye dish.
