A lovely mid century cheese board with original cheese knife.
By Luthje Wood, Denmark – Luthje ceased in the 1970s so all Luthje pieces are mid century era.
A reddy hardwood, most likely teak, with a square vintage retro tile inset.
The tile looks like those by Alan Wallwork… quite likely by him.
The tile is retro spotty bleeding colours of browns and gold tones.
I believe the cheese knife is original – serrated to one side, sharp to other, and spikes to pick up a chunk.
There’s an inset magnet to hold the knife in place.
There’s a suede tied cord loop to hang it all up.
Stamped to the back.
39 x 19cm, tile is 15 x15cm.
Very good.
The wood has been re-oiled recently with food safe Danish oil.
Some small marks to the wood.
Tile is good with no knife marks.
