Description
A set of four small vintage Midwinter Pottery cups, circa 1970s or early 1980s.
They are the Midwinter Stonehenge shape in the brown stripe decor which is Earth (over the plain Creation decor).
Off-white base with brown/black speckles – the random speckles are iron oxide and are darker around the rims.
The Earth brown glaze is dark and lighter shades, vertically striped – each cup is slightly different.
Very retro colouring and a design classic – I believe the design is by Eve Midwinter.
Cups are an espresso or demitasse sized 5.8cm tall x 5.8cm wide at the rim.
They hold just under 100ml, ideal for a stronger morning coffee.
Simple cylinder shapes.
They are all very good condition with no cutlery marks, and look to be unused.
Just one teeny baseline nibble, shown.
Base stamps are hard to read.
Due to the nature of the glaze each piece is slightly different and unique.
Ironstone or earthenware type glazed pottery/ceramic.
