Description
A super Pat Birks 1987 signed three-arm pottery candelabra.
Pat apparently worked at Briglin back in the day and became a full time potter in 1988.
So this is an early example of her independent work (when her work was all blue and white).
Red earthenware construction with a hard white tin glaze, decorated in painted metal oxides.
Inspired by flora and fauna – can see footprints and swordfish-like heads.
Majolica style.
A very time consuming and a difficult piece to construct (hollow).
Designed to hold three standard tapered dinner candles.
Signed to base.
All great with no chips – as intended.
25.5 x 29 x 9cm.
