A vintage handmade small pottery mug, by Rye Pottery, Sussex.
This is a striped pattern and is a mid century 1950s to 1960s original.
Rye Pottery was John Cole and Walter Cole from 1947. Walter (Wally) was responsible for creating the ceramics and running the pottery while John made the designs and created the patterns and decorations.

The back stamp dates the piece from 1957-1969. It’s beige coloured clay and likely decorated by Wally Cole. Skilfully wheel thrown and glazed khaki or dark olive green, the straight-sided simple mug has black hand-painted vertical stripes.
Very good condition, some small signs of use..
8.3cm tall x 6.2cm at rim… a small mug with low capacity. Perfect for a collection.
