Description

A vintage good-sized round optic vase/bowl…
It’s Czech/Bohemian and made by Borske Sklo from 1963, so circa mid 1960s vintage.
The Nemo design was based on the ‘large olives’ design – Max Kannegiesser tweaked the design by adding gold enamels and some limited colours.
The spots are random and hand-painted.
The design won an award in 1963 and is found in 35 different shapes and sizes.

This example is a medium to large ball vase, with the optical circles randomly painted in gold gilt (reflective!), iridescent purples and dusky blue.
It’s mould blown and has the tell-tale impressed cross shape on the base from the mould.

As with many of these, the top polished rim is very fragile and susceptible and is often chipped.
This example is very good, with one or two inner fleabites that are hard to see, see photos.
The coloured panels are good, some gold paint is missing.

15.5cm tall x 18cm wide max.
