Description

An unusual and rare Old Hall set of Oriana tableware, by Robert Welch for Old Hall.

In the late 1950s Olde Hall was contacted by Orient Line liners and asked to produce tableware for their new ship SS Oriana.
In 1959 Robert Welch designed this range of stainless steel tableware ‘Oriana’ for the P&O ship.
The set was made of heavier thicker stainless steel and was crucially re-enforced at the base with an extra ring of metal to make them heavier and with lower centre of gravity for rougher seas.
SS Oriana was launched in 1960.
The range was then adapted in 1961 to be sold as Old Hall Oriana tableware from 1963-1975 (without the re-enforced lower ring).

This version of the design from 1959, from the SS Oriana, is hard to find.
This original version does not have the Old Hall stamp to the base.

Set consists of coffee pot, hot water pot and creamer jug.
Coffee pot – 13cm to the rim, 15cm with lid lift.
Hot water or smaller coffee pot – 10.5cm to lid, 12.5cm to top.
Creamer – 8.5cm tall.

All used condition with marks, but clean, functional and displayable.
They’re heavy!
