Description

A small Louis Hudson pottery slab vase, made in Cornwall, England, in the 1970s.
Cylinder with straight(ish) edges, chimney like.

This has deliberate irregularities (wonky and hand applied pressed geometric patterns) which reflects its handmade studio pottery nature, and giving it great character.
The distinctive patterns are runic/Celtic inspired with a modernist/brutalist appearance.

Lovely natural earthy neutral tones.
Sandy unglazed colouring, with reddy brown raised patterns with pale beige/grey glaze to the upper.
Areas of glossy glaze and matte contrasts.
Vertical seams where the flat piece of clay would have been joined up.

In very good condition.
Unsigned.
Would hold a few flower stems if used.

A smaller size – 14.8cm x 4.8cm base (3.9cm rim).
Tapers in slightly.
