Description
A Spong Vinicool bar accessory – a retro insulated wine cooler.
I believe this is a rarer and later incarnation of the 1970s Vinicool – this is the Vinicool Polygon.
A 12-sided cylindrical clear acrylic design, with round subtle gold band.
Circa 1980s vintage.
The clever patented design relies on the wine already being chilled, and the double glazed insulation of the holder simply maintains the chilled temperature. No ice required. It was one of those 1970s gadgets that many households had. Made from two layers of plastic/acrylic, the void between the two cleverly keeps your bottles at the correct temperature for hours. No maker’s marks to the base, but I have another with proof of ID.
23cm x 13cm (apx). It’s round internally and 10.5cm wide inside.
Very good and usable condition with not many surface marks.
Very cool and so retro 1980s! A harder to find version of the design.
