Description
A super Richard Coley small trinket or jewellery pot/box.
Nouveau Studios was a Scottish studio associated with the artist and sculptor Richard Coley (1938–2009). The studio is primarily known for producing decorative objects and giftware that blend mid-20th-century modernism with Art Nouveau and Celtic influences, often referred to as being in the tradition of the Glasgow School. Richard Coley was a trained sculptor who studied at the Glasgow School of Art. While his studio work for Nouveau Studios focused on smaller decorative items, he was also an accomplished large-scale sculptor.
The pewter lid features a stylised dragonfly with snowdrop flowers. The spaces are infilled with enamels in rich green and peacock blues.
The cylinder pot looks to be coated in soft green suede, or very similar.
It’s lined inside with black velvet, suited to holding one or two precious items like rings.
5.5cm x 6cm wide.
Good, see pics.
