Description
A super stylish (and weighty) Robert Welch nut cracker, from the Hobart range.
This is a used modern version of the design, probably 1990s-2000s (can tell by the steel spindle).
The Hobart Nutcracker is an original Robert Welch design from 1964.
It is still available today as part of the Legacy Collection, celebrating 60 years of design from Welch’s workshop at Chipping Campden. Robert Welch was known for his stainless steel and silver ranges for Old Hall, along with these modernist cast iron pieces.
Made from solid cast iron, coloured matte black, with a steel spindle.
It uses a simple wind up and down mechanism.
Height is 160mm (when fully wound down), width is 125mm across the top handle.
210mm tall when fully wound out.
Would take a large nut of around 40-45mm high.
Weighs a chunky 1.45kg.
Three rubbery foot pads protect your worktop.
Very good used condition. Fully functional and an iconic design.
One chip to the cast iron that i would think is from manufacture (side left).
