A gorgeous vintage Royal Dux (Bohemia, Czech Republic) laying cat figurine.
She’s a minimalist/modernist and abstract styled porcelain cat in satin black with glossy white hollow eyes, designed by Jaroslav Ježek. The design dates from around the 1950s mid century and this version is circa early 1990s. The cat is poised and graceful with her bottom slightly up and tail alert, while looking to the side.
She’s a stunning vintage ornamental display item, perfect for a mid century, retro or modern home.
The sculpture has its pink triangular Bohemia base stamp, a round blue base stamp saying ‘Made in Czech Republic’, and has model number 853 embossed, along with ‘R’ and some other feint number stamps.
Very good condition with no chips. A very feint mark where the original sticker came off, shown.
