Description
A vintage Rye Pottery (Sussex, England) round ball pomander.
The pottery/clay ball has holes to the top and a stopper to the base.
Designed to hold pot pourri or lavender or other scented bits, and look pretty.
Handmade and hand painted with a blue foliage design over white.
Quite simple and typical of Rye pieces from the mid century – circa 1950s-1970s.
Stamped RYE to base, original (aged but useable) stopper.
Ball is about 7cm tall x 6.5cm wide.
Very good.
These days, more a pretty vintage blue and white ceramic ball for display.
