Description
A classic bit of mid-century design from the Arabia Ruska (Finland) range…
A set of 6 Ruska bowls.
They’re ideal for cereal, puddings, side salad, soup etc.
(I grew up with these in the 70s and had my cornflakes in them).
The Ruska glaze was designed by Ulla Procopé around 1960.
The name Ruska roughly translates from the Finnish as ‘Autumn’.
These are early 1970s (base marks have worn off).
The glazes on these pieces vary enormously – these are predominantly mid brown with darker and lighter brown speckles.
A few spots of lighter or thin glaze.
Overall good condition with a few small signs of use but not many cutlery marks.
One has an inner rim chip, shown.
The baseline white stoneware is a bit rough in a few places, if you look v closely.
Simple lines and tactile, with natural autumn colourings, beautifully designed.
Classic sturdy design, great for everyday use. Dishwasher and microwave proof.
Brown glaze over white stoneware/earthenware.
17.3cm wide x 4.2cm wide.
They’re chunky and heavy, so the set of six weighs over 2.3kg.
Price based on £8 each.
I have a lot of different Arabia Ruska plates, please just ask if you’re looking for something.
