Description
A vintage art glass bowl, designed by Tapio Wirkkala in 1976 for Iittala, Finland.
It’s the Seita design, design no 2655.
Seita was designed as a candle stand for a pillar candle, or an ashtray.
This is the larger, heavier and harder to find size – the 180mm or 7 1/4″.
The outer edge tapers inwards slightly towards the rim and has ice/bark textured surfaces.
It’s roughly circular but has an irregular shape with an undulating rim. Smooth inside.
Has iceberg or ice like feet and textured icy surface on the base.
Heavy chunky clear bright crystal content glass.
Quality Scandinavian design, circa 1970s.
Used condition… On display it’s great with no upper level chips.
It has a large slice chip of missing glass off the baseline – hard to see due to the design and out of sight.
And another baseline crunch, with a shell like scar above it.
Both chips are close together on the same lower side.
Priced accordingly. Please see photos.
17cm wide at rim, 17.5cm widest at base, 6cm tall sides (maximum, but they undulate). Apx 1kg.
