Description
A fantastic ‘Ruby Red’ art glass bowl by Whitefriars. It’s featured in the 1966 to 1972 catalogues, so likely to be late 1960s vintage. Model no 9517, designed by Geoffrey Baxter. It’s the smaller 5 1/2″ square bowl in this design.
A simple and stylish rounded square shape, on a small round clear foot. The deep red appears to be sommerso – floating – lightly cased in clear glass. Heavy thick quality glass, hand made, mouth blown. Typical Whitefriars polished pontil and base. 12 x 12 x 6cm.
Very good.
No chips or nibbles, two small marks internally.
Not been used as an ashtray.
