Description
A fantastic large art pottery/ceramic vase by Carstens Tönnieshof, model 4239-30.
Made in Austria – they made some West German pieces in Austria at their peak in the 60s/70s.
So it’s West German design but made in Austria during the mid century.
A very hard to find decor and colour.
Vibrant satin orange background with hand painted random black squares with lime green centres.
The green and black has a sheen to it.
The geometric squares remind me of a giraffe pattern or tetris game.
The white patches are areas of no glaze.
It’s a handled vase, 30.5cm tall. 12.5cm widest.
Feels quite lightweight for the size, not a heavy clay construction.
Glazed brown inner. White clay base.
Stamped to base.
Excellent condition for age/era. No chips or anything.
