A pair of matching candle sticks…
They’re carved blackened soapstone which have been hand engraved through forming patterns of fish and leaves.
The soapstone is a nice tactile satin black. They’re twisted to the centre and stand 11.5cm tall.
Handmade in Africa, Kenya probably, and of some vintage (70s/80s).
Signed to the bases with ‘J III’… both the same.
Very good condition.
The stone is soft so they have a few small areas which are less black.
Inner holes are 1.9cm and 2.2cm wide (suited to a standard tapered dinner candle).
