Description
A super handmade and mouth blown and limited edition art glass vase from November 1989.
Designed for Strömbergshyttan (Stromberg), made by Erik Hoglund (Sweden).
It was made in 1989 to commemorate 50 years of Stena line boats and is fully inscribed to the base.
It reads something like: “18/11 1939 Stena 50year 1989 18/11. EH sg Strombergshyttan”.
Stena (now part of the Stena Sphere and Stena AB) originated in 1939 when founder Sten A. Olsson established the trading company Sten A. Olsson Metallprodukter in Gothenburg, Sweden. While it began strictly as a raw materials and scrap trading operation on November 18, 1939, it later expanded into purchasing ships in 1946 and eventually launched its iconic ferry operations as Stena Line in the 1960s.
It’s a chalice shaped footed bowl or vase with swirling pink, plum and blue with an opaque white enamel rim.
Broken pontil to the base.
Very good with no chips.
A 1cm scratch to the lower bowl.
12cm tall x 10.5cm widest.
