Description
A smooth glossy glazed large pot/vase by Scheurich, West Germany.
Dating from the 1960s/1970s ‘fat lava’ era and mid century and retro in style.
The glaze is a glossy mid cobalt or Royal blue with black horizontal painted lines and a central black panel with blue and white bubbly abstract drawn flowers and dots.
Dark black/brown inside.
Shape/model no 517-30 (30 denoting 30cm tall).
Good condition for age and era with no chips.
There’s fine crazing to the lighter blue body (a quirk of the blue colour) as is common with vintage West German pottery.
1cm up from the base there’s an invisible hairline crack which extends to about 16cm long, see last pics.
You can’t see the crack but it can catch a finger nail – last 4 pictures.
I’m not sure I’d trust it with water in but I can’t feel the crack inside.
Please check all photos.
30cm tall x 12.5cm cylinder.
Inner rim is 9cm tall. Large, weighs 1.5kg.
Big enough to be a floor vase for a few statement stems.
Looks great on display!
