Description
A classic bit of mid-century design from the Arabia Ruska (Finland) range…
A set of 6 Ruska stoneware side plates.
They’re the larger 8″ side plates – ideal for bread, salad, dessert, cheese, etc.
The Ruska glaze was designed by Ulla Procopé around 1960.
The name Ruska roughly translates from the Finnish as ‘Autumn’.
These are early 1970s (base marks have worn off).
The glazes on these pieces vary enormously – these are predominantly mid to darker brown.
Three are in very good condition with not many signs of age/use.
Three have a few fine surface marks. No chips.
Some wear/age to the white ring baselines underneath.
Simple lines and tactile, with natural autumn colourings, beautifully designed.
Classic sturdy design, great for everyday use. Dishwasher and microwave proof.
Brown glaze over white stoneware/earthenware.
20.2cm wide. Inner flat area is about 13.7cm wide.
They’re chunky and heavy, so the set weighs a lot!
Price based on £8 each.
I have a lot of different Arabia Ruska plates, please just ask if you’re looking for something.
