Description
A striking deep purple with gold and white striped art glass vase, circa 1950s to 1970s mid century vintage.
By Borske Sklo (Czechoslovakia), it is a simple tall tapering cylindrical shape, wider at the bottom and narrower at the rim.
It’s a tall statement piece with great vivid stripes (the gold is highly reflective).
The base glass is a deep purple plum, almost black, with metallic gold gilding and white enamel painted stripes around it.
It has a flat polished rim.
It’s in excellent condition for the age – these offer suffer with wear to the stripes from washing, but this is a very good example with good banding and hardly any wear. Rim is great. A couple of fine scratches, as they would all have.
A decent 31cm tall x 9.3cm wide base (6.5cm wide at the rim) – would hold a few tall statement stems if used.
The purple is a harder to find colour way and this is a fab and darker example.
