Description

A nice example of a 1970s Caithness Oban cylinder vase, made in Scotland.

Designed by Charles Orr and Paul Ysart in 1968 and based on a simple form by Domhnall OBroin. It’s a clear cylinder vase, with enclosed off-centre pinkand tan brown stripes in the lower half, fading upwards. Cased in clear at the solid glass base. It’s model number OG12 from the Oban range, I believe. The coloured rods inside were imported from Kugler. It’s a nice simple Modernist mid century design, with a splash of colour.

Very good condition (as couple of teeny marks if you look closely).

Flat polished rim and base are good.
This vase would hold a good dozen mid length stems… this is apx 17.5cm x 6cm wide.
Heavy and nicely made.
