Description
A beautiful smoke coloured art glass piggy bank by Wood Brothers Glass Co – marketed as Cascade, England.
Circa 1960s or 1970s vintage, he is the larger size example.
He’s a blown moulded glass hollow and fragile pig figure.
He’s a dark smoke grey colour – typical of the age/era.
Quite scarce as the only way to empty them is to smash them – therefore he’s unused.
The design is very similar to those by Jacob E Bang for Holmegaard, Denmark.
A good sized big 14cm tall x 16cm long x 12cm deep.
Some small fine surface marks, but very good for age and era.
The money slot is very good and looks to be unused.
Some natural bubbles, moulding lines and swirls within the glass (see pics).
Very displayable, clean, collectable and presentable. I’d give him an 9/10.
Perfect for a mid-century home.
More for display for a grown-up, than for a child’s toy – although it would look fab out of reach in a nursery!
