A vintage Robert Welch ‘owl’ String Dispenser, from the Victor Cast Ware range, British made.
Designed in 1990, this is probably from that 90s era.
To the top of the owl shape to one side is a steel blade for cutting the cord.
Made from solid cast iron, enamel coated in deep bottle green in the shape of a stylised owl.
Internally it has a screw mechanism for fitting rolls of string.
Stamped to the base with ‘Victor England. R. Welch design’, and the base has four little rubber feet to protect your worktop.
14cm tall x 7.2cm wide… but height varies with use.
Heavy and sturdy solid cast iron, it’s design ref no RW920.
Good used condition, very useable.
Blade works but is rusty.
Screw up and down mechanism works too but likewise has some patina.
Perfect as a prop for a retro blue kitchen, greenhouse, conservatory, office etc.
